What is a Saree anyway?
A Saree, or Sari, is the traditional garment worn by women in India.  It is made from a piece of fabric that can be as long as 8 feet and as wide as 4 feet.  It is made from silk that comes from Mulberry worms which are worms that feed on the Mulberry tree and is considered to be the finest silk.

Sometimes people ask me why the Eve 12 Strand Necklace costs $150.  The answer is that each bead on each of the 12 strands is hand-wrapped and tied off with the same silk that is made for the traditional Saree.  The fabric takes time to create, there is the yarn dying process, then the weaving process and then the time it takes to wrap each bead.  This price tag is also allowing the women making these necklaces to support themselves by earning a fair wage.
