The Sistine Chapel of Mexico

This church is located outside of San Miguel, and it is referred to as the Sistine Chapel of Mexico. It is called Sanctuary of Atotonilco and is a World Heritage Site built in the 18th century. The baroque style murals that cover the interior walls of the church took thirty years to complete.

All of these windows allow light to wash the walls inside. Photographs do not do it justice.

Outside there are vendors selling crosses, saints, and more. I can't wait to return this Christmas and discover new details I might have missed before. Be sure and follow me on Instagram so you can join me on my trip.
