Japanese Haori - Red and White

A Haori is a traditional Japanese open front jacket measuring hip or thigh length. Evolving from samurai wear, it acts as a lightweight cardigan traditionally worn over kimonos, but here in the U.S. these are beautiful over jeans and a tee shirt or over a dress for fancier occasions. Like a kimono, they feature wide three-quarter sleeves and are one of a kind made from silk.

I purchased these in Takayama, a town that's been doing this kind of textile work since the early 1600's. 

This Haori is red and white with an abstract design and measures 30" long and 46" around at the bust.
